OUR MISSION & OUR TEAM
Our mission at No Tears Tutoring is simple: help all students (regardless of ability level) to achieve their full potential. We provide individualized solutions to meet each students unique educational needs. We offer a full range of specialized services–educational consulting and counseling, parent coaching, IEP and other school support, and, of course, one-on-one tutoring–to meet your needs. Ellen Werther, M.Ed
Principal & Founder
No Tears Tutoring founder Ellen Werther has a Masters of Education (MEd.) with an endorsement in Special Education from the College of Education at Mary Baldwin University, from which she graduated with high honors.
A life-long educator, Ellen has served as a teacher and case manager at several public and private schools and provided one-on-one coaching, tutoring and IEP support for students of all ages and abilities. Ellen has taught subjects ranging from reading and writing to chemistry to algebra and pre-calculus to public, private, and homeschool students. She has worked extensively with students with learning differences and disabilities, including dyslexia, ADD and ADHD, dyscalculia, Asperger’s Syndrome, anxiety disorders, and fetal alcohol syndrome.
In addition to being a dedicated educator, Ellen is a passionate artist. She continues to paint and create mixed media and often combines her art training and special education expertise to develop creative approaches to teaching–providing students who struggle in the traditional classroom with the skills they need to succeed. Previously, the president of her congregation’s women’s group, she now serves as a member at large on its board of directors.
Jennifer Becker, Ph.D
Language Arts & Writing Associate
Jennifer is an alumna of Washington University in St. Louis, MO, where she earned a Ph.D. in English Lit and an MA in English and American Lit. Before that she earned a BA in English Lit and Secondary Education, graduating summa cum laude from Hendrix College in Conway, AR.
A seasoned college professor, Jennifer also has extensive experience working with middle and high school students. She specializes in helping students learn critical reading and composition skills and write college application and scholarship essays. She also works as needed as an evaluator for college admissions exams.
Elma Allen, M.Ed, Ed.S
Special Needs Advisor
Elma has a Masters of Education from the University of Virginia and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Virginia Tech. She is a member of many professional organizations including the International Reading Association, the International Dyslexia Association, the Council for Exceptional Children, and the Virginia Council for Administration of Special Education.
Elma specializes in working with our students with learning differences. She provides support to parents who are seeking advice on or need help going through the IEP process, and develops new curriculum for our students.
Hannah Riley Easley
Calculus, Science, ACT & SAT Test Prep
Riley, the newest associate of No Tears Tutoring, comes to us by way of a suburb of Atlanta, GA. She is a graduate of the Georgia Governor’s Honors Program where she earned an International Baccalaureate Diploma with a 4.2 GPA. Riley is attending Mary Baldwin University–on an almost full scholarship!
She will be majoring in English and minoring in Education, and she will be working with students who are taking AP classes and advanced math, including calculus, and those preparing to take the ACTs and SATs (both the standard battery of tests and the SAT subject tests).
Rosemary Parsells, MBA
Business & Career Development
Rosemary holds an MBA from Averett University–with a concentration in accounting. Rosemary has decades of experience in corporate settings and in college administration, most recently in career services and admissions. Now an adjunct professor, she has taught traditional and adult students in both community and private colleges. Rosemary developed our Financial Awareness Workshop, is a liaison with clients, and provides other support.
Jonathan Guerrero, MBA
Jonathan manages the operations, digital marketing, partnership development, and business administration (and provides other support) for No Tears Tutoring. He received his MBA from the UCLA’s Anderson School of Management and was previously a manager at the US Army Corps of Engineers. Jonathan has more than nine years experience in engineering, technology, and project management. He and his wife are expecting their first child in February.
When No Tears Tutoring decided to hire a technology associate, Daniel was an ideal fit to join our growing team! An “alum” of No Tears Tutoring, Daniel graduated from Fort Defiance High School with an advanced diploma. He began as an intern. He works on digital media (e.g., our website and e-newsletter) and provides other support. Daniel plays tennis, is a great cook, and is active in his congregation.
